Cardano Reaches New Levels of Achievement in Smart Contracts Creation.

Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano, released the first untyped Plutus core program created with Typescript. This new achievement somehow indicates that developers will likely write Cardano smart contracts using TypeScript in the future. It should be mentioned that the Cardano blockchain is built using the Haskell programming language.

Haskell is not the most well-known programming language, and the reason why Cardano uses Haskell is that it is well-suited to writing robust code, especially in combination with formal methods. The Plutus project allows developers to build decentralized applications while preserving the benefits of Cardano smart contracts. Additionally, developers can write Cardano-related, on-chain, and off-chain code entirely in Typescript.

For those unfamiliar with typescript, it is a strongly typed, object-oriented, compiled language. It was developed and maintained by Microsoft. It is a strict syntax superset of JavaScript that optionally adds static typing to the language. It aims to develop JavaScript applications that can be executed on both the client and server sides.

Typescript has three sections:

  • Language: It is divided into Syntax, Keywords, and Type Annotations.
  • TypeScript compiler: Converts instructions written in TypeScript to JavaScript.
  • TypeScript language services: Supports Colorization and Code formatting operations.
